Due to our lifestyle, eating habits and increasing the availability of junk food, the number of overweight and obese individuals is on the rise. You can assess your weight by your body size or by using the Body Mass Index (BMI).
BMI can be calculated using your weight and height and helps to determine whether you have a healthy weight, underweight, overweight or obese. A BMI of 18.5-24.9 is considered healthy, 25.0-29.9 is overweight whiles 30.0 and above is considered obese. If you are overweight, obese or uncomfortable with your body size then you need to consider shedding some weight.
The weight loss journey as I have experienced over the years is not an easy one. Several ways promise a fast weight loss, but the focus should rather be a healthy and lasting way to lose weight. Studies have shown that fast weight loss remedies afford the loss of body water and muscle and not necessarily fat.

Key facts for weight loss
Many people are quick to jump to the dieting aspect with a lack of focus on the individual’s emotions, but truth be told, it is equally important.
As I already stated, the weight loss journey is not an easy one so below are some key things to consider before you begin your quest for your dream weight or body:
- Have a goal: you must have in mind your current weight as well as the weight you seek to achieve, this helps you to assess your progress over time.
- Have a motivation: this can be that size 10/12 dress or bikini you’ve been eyeing, the ideal shape you seek, the health condition you are trying to prevent or control as well as the healthy life you want. This helps to keep you on track.
- Be determined: determination is essential if you want to surmount the obstacles and challenges you face during the period.
- Discipline: this is key to overcome your cravings.
- Consistency: from my experience, consistency tends to be a major problem. Some people tend to slag along the way thereby nullifying the hard work and efforts they have invested so far. If you truly want results, be consistent.
